Now, onto our dessert ideas! To make things easier, I have divided up all of the back to school dessert ideas I have compiled into 5 different dessert types: cupcakes, cakes, cakepops, cookies, and miscellaneous desserts. I hope you enjoy and feel inspired!

5 Back to School Party Dessert Categories

1. Cupcakes

Cupcakes are my absolute favorite type of party dessert. Not only are they super easy to serve since they are finger friendly, but they also are easy and fun to decorate. These four examples are all great ideas for how to decorate your cupcakes for a back to school party. You can either make the cupcake look like an apple (or shaped like an apple), or you can use fondant to create super cute cupcake toppers!

  1. Fondant Cupcake Toppers – Lynlee’s
  2. Lined Paper Cupcakes – Dukes and Duchesses
  3. Apple Cupcakes – Baking Beauty
  4. Apple Shaped Cupcakes – Make and Takes

2. Cakes

While I usually don’t have cakes at my own personal parties, I couldn’t resist including these four back to school cake ideas in this post! I especially love the pencil cake!

  1. Welcome Back Sheet Cake – A.C. Moore
  2. Chalkboard Sheet Cake – Cake Central
  3. Pencil Cake – Cake Whiz
  4. Back to School Addition Cake – Kara’s Party Ideas

3. Cakepops

Cakepops are a newer dessert option that has become extremely popular. They are also easy to serve because they are finger friendly AND they are able to be made into the cutest mini shapes themed like your party. I love all of these cakepop ideas for a back to school party!

  1. Apple Face Cake Pops – Woman’s Day
  2. Apple Cookie Pops – The 36th Avenue
  3. Apple Cake Pops – Fredellicious
  4. Lined Paper Cake Pops – Gourmly

4. Cookies

Cookies are my new FAVORITE dessert type! I love how they can be frosted and decorated to look so cute and like anything you can think of! You can either purchase cookies that have already been decorated from a local bakery, or you can attempt to make them yourself! Here are my four favorite back to school cookies!

  1. PB&J Cookies – Erica’s Sweet Tooth
  2. ABC Cookies – Catch My Party (Ayanna S)
  3. School Bus Cookies – Kit’s Cookies
  4. Back to School Cookies – Moms and Munchkins

5. Miscellaneous Desserts

These four ideas give a variety of other types of back to school dessert ideas. These are all able to be made right in your own kitchen but are still super cute!

  1. Apple Rice Krispie Treats – Gourmet Mom On-the-Go
  2. Apple Donuts – Your Homebased Mom
  3. Apple Pretzels – Make Bake Celebrate
  4. Apple Pretzel Bites – Two Sisters Crafting

I don’t know about you, but I have no idea how you are going to be able to pick just a couple ideas out of here… because they are all great! I think that you could probably get away with picking your favorite idea out of a few categories and then serving those desserts!
