Party How-To-Guide: April Showers

I absolutely love party planning! I love researching and planning every little detail to make all parties – birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, and more – spectacularly memorable. I know that not everybody loves party planning as much as I do, but would also like to have their parties be memorable. SO… I have done the hard work for you!

Today, I bring to you a party theme centered around the season: April Showers! I think this theme would be PERFECT for a baby shower or bridal shower, but it would also make a cute birthday party as well. I have broken down the party into all of the necessary components – Invitations, Decorations, Food, Desserts, Games/Activities, Party Favors, and more. I hope as your read through my April Showers Party Theme that you will feel as excited about it as I am!

If you are throwing a birthday party… This photo shoot set up is adorable for putting on your party invitation! You can check out the whole tutorial on how to create this set up on Humanist Home’s Blog.

These last two invitations are great for a bridal shower with the April Showers theme. I love that this one features a pregnant mommy-to-be under a rain umbrella.

Bridal Shower Invitation

This one is a little more elegant and almost make me feel like it is a mix of April showers and a garden party.

Let’s face it.. Decorations are everybody’s favorite part of party planning. The following party decor ideas I have compiled are absolutely gorgeous. This birthday party incorporated rainbows in their party as well. I love how the were able to use lots of color in their dessert table display.

This next baby shower used yellows, whites, and grays… making it a perfect gender neutral baby shower. I love how they used umbrellas over their table display.

This table decoration would make a beautiful tablescape for a bridal April Showers party. I love that it is outside in the sun and has the see-through plastic umbrellas to let the sun in through.

I am also a big fan of individually served salads. For this time of year, strawberries, avocado, and goat cheese make a perfect salad combo.

Imagine biting into one of these delicious spinach and artichoke bites. I love that they are bit size and already have the breading combined in it!

These raindrop cookies are to die for. Their sweet little faces almost make you not want to eat them… almost.

These cupcakes are a little simpler, but are still very pretty. I like the cloud cupcake toppers and think the use of blue sugar sprinkles on the white frosting adds a nice touch.

Last, but not least, these rainy day cookies are super cute. I love the different pictures they have frosted on the top.

Games and Activities

This is often the hardest part of party planning. Even harder still is coming up with a game or activity that goes along with your party theme. Here, I have found a couple of activities that could be used at your party. This first idea is a cute idea for a birthday party, but would make a great activity for virtually any kind of April Showers party. You just need to create a cute backdrop for a fun photo op! I love how this one uses tissue paper flowers to create white clouds with colorful raindrop garland hanging from them.

This thumbprint guestbook is simply adorable for any party! I especially love this for a baby shower or bridal shower!

I absolutely love this idea! I always liked the idea of creating a time capsule for baby to open when they are grown up and  I simply adore the photographed notes in lieu of cards!

Other, more traditional games should definitely not be left out! I just love how these ones incorporate the rain theme!

Party Favors

These two party favors make the perfect finishing touch to your April Shower party. This first one is just a simple, pretty bag filled with lemon drops and other candy.
